This week, Rosie, an Instacart company, hosted the 3rd Annual Rosie Awards to recognize independent retailers across eleven different categories for creativeness, dedication and resulting growth achieved in e-commerce. Over the last year, these retailers have improved the experience for their customers by making it easier and more convenient to purchase, pick up and deliver their orders so that everyone – including SNAP participants – can access their groceries online. And their strategic efforts have continued to transform the grocery shopping experience for their customers.

“This year’s award winners are being recognized for truly outstanding efforts these past 12 months. Their e-commerce work has significantly enhanced how their customers shop for groceries in-store and online,” said Nick Nickitas, Founder of Rosie, an Instacart company.  “They are some of the hardest working, humble and dedicated people we’ve met in the industry and they truly embody the commitment to serving their communities. Working day-in and day-out to put fresh, healthy food on tables.”

“It’s inspiring to see how this year’s winners are developing unique and creative opportunities to engage with their customers. They are translating their unique brand and customer services found in-store to the digital landscape to meet their customers where they shop, when they shop,” said Haley Sammis, Head of Account Management for Rosie, an Instacart company.”

The year’s Rosie Award Winners:

  • Highest Performing Retailer (5+ stores): Yoke’s Fresh Market
  • Highest performing Retailer (1-5 stores): Belmont Market

During the awards, retailers and Account Managers – who  co-hosted the awards show – engaged in lively conversations around their accolades, discussing their successful strategies with attendees.

Instead of focusing only on the number of times a customer is reminded about online ordering, we also try to make sure any customer’s interaction with our e-commerce team is both positive and personal, whether in-store, over the phone, or at pickup or delivery. In particular, we like to get to know our online customers and offer them a unique experience, if possible.”  Heather Keenan, E-commerce Manager for Dutch-Way Farm Market shared in an acceptance message read on behalf of their award for Best In-Store or Parking Lot Marketing.

“We know that the key to our loyal customers is an experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else. In the online shopping world, it’s really clear that many of the reasons people do online shopping is convenience.” Samantha Johnston, Marketing Strategist for  Clark’s Market shared when asked about their goals for 2023. “If we are not also convenient, our customers will choose someone else. They have other options in the market, so we have to provide that customer experience that is consistent and convenient, and again, to what others have said here today, makes each customer feel like they are the only one.”

In addition to recognizing excellence among retailers at the collective retailer level, Rosie also recognized one individual e-commerce employee for the most picked orders in one year.  Kendall McBroom an order picker at the Helena location for 16 store independent retailer Super 1 Foods
